BIENNALE OF SYDNEY
Sometimes I wonder if people have ever stepped outside of their minds to take a look at what they might be rather than what they look like.
The seventeen Biennale introduces ‘the beauty of distance… songs of survival in a precarious age’
It was raining when I went to Cockatoo Island and even worse inside the MCA.
Pouring down, as it was the art I was shortly immersed in was a contemporaneous world of the outside.
Here is a favorite or two..three
Issac Julien
Multi channel video installations - 51 minutes - Titled: Ten Thousand Waves
..i felt like i was there for 5.
Here is an example of another one of his works..
Bringing feeling and meaning into his work, you get it no matter who you are
The talk of the town..
AES + F
Large scale video installation - 19 mins - Title: The Feast of Trimalchio
Russian collective shot about 75,000 photographs making an incredible experience - panoramic, i felt like i was in walking through a 3D glossy fashion magazine.
i say......When you can't see a thing, look for the light..
This work made me feel like i was in outer-space.. the feeling of floating took over me to the point where i actually forgot where i was. That's probably the thing i love most about art and going to see it...
With the large scale sphere images splayed on the wall and floor - images of lakes and a sun being eclipsed melted the space between the art and the audience. There really isn't an image that could tell you more about the work than actually going to see it!
The exhibition is on till the 1st of August
